Lineup Systems, the leading SaaS business providing advertising sales software to media companies globally, today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Chris Spalding as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. He was previously Chief Operating Officer at Lineup.

In his previous role, Spalding led on the P&L, strategy, commercial business and technical operations. Spalding brings a significant amount of media technology experience to the role. Throughout his career he has worked in leadership roles in a number of major companies including Associated Newspapers, Metro international, EMAP, LeapFrog, Coca Cola and Virgin.

Ken Briddon, Chairman at Lineup, said “We are delighted that Chris is taking over as CEO. He is a visionary leader who has applied big business thinking and a customer first approach to Lineup, transforming the business in recent years. He understands the importance of ensuring that technology is an enabler for its customers and has led the evolution of Lineup into a business that has more than doubled its market share. As we focus on ongoing market transformation and developing new products and services, Chris has the skills and ability to prepare Lineup for the next stage of its growth.”

Chris Spalding, CEO Lineup Systems, said: “I am really pleased to have been given this opportunity by the Board. Lineup is a company with lots of talent and a great future. Its ability to help media businesses grow sales, improve workflows and substantially reduce costs, is more important than ever in the current global trading conditions. We will continue to focus on ways to provide new and existing customers with innovative and cost effective solutions.

This change will allow former CEO Michael Mendoza to transition to the role of Founder, with an increased focus on product innovation and thought leadership. This transition will allow Lineup to remain customer-focused while innovating within the media technology industry with new products and services.

In his statement to Lineup staff, Mendoza described his long relationship with Spalding, sharing, “Chris and I have worked together for over 15 years and he has been a mentor for me throughout my career. He has made many positive contributions to our company as a strong and dedicated leader. He has my trust and loyalty to run this company, which I hold very close to my heart. This change will allow me to focus my time on product innovation and thought leadership.”

Lineup has received several growth awards over the last few years, and its growth continued in 2020, with the company adding additional staff members and signing many large customers including McClatchy, Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Seattle Times, Sky News Arabia, EETech and L’Avenir.

In addition, Lineup announced last August a new subscriptions-management platform, Amplio, would soon be joining its product portfolio in early 2021.
